The Summit Jaguar Marching Band was among 13 bands who competed in the Midlothian Marching Contest on Saturday, October 1.
The Summit Band debuted their shako 'crowns' during this performance. The hats, crafted by members of our booster club, combine a matte black fabric and a shiny, royal blue fabric that catches the lights during the evening show. The band also wore their head lamps for the first time this season. The lights added a powerful visual at a critical point in the performance.
The Summit band placed second in the preliminary round and came in third overall in the finals. Waxahachie placed first, Highland Park took second and Lake Ridge, the only other Mansfield high school to compete, took sixth.
