Nineteen Summit High School band students are preparing to compete for the highest honor a Texas music student can achieve: a chair in the 2017 All-State Band. The students, who play a variety of instruments, advanced to Area competition after successful auditions in Region Phase I and Region Phase II contests the week of December 5.
The Texas Music Educators Association sponsors the annual competition which requires students play a selection of music before a panel of judges who rank each instrument. The most accomplished musicians will be selected to play in an All-State Band during a trip to Austin for the annual state TMEA Clinic and Convention. There, students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally-recognized conductors and perform before thousands of attendees.
Congratulations to the following Summit High School Band Students on their success and good luck at Area competition on Saturday, January 7!
