SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Senior Band Students

Scholarships are awarded by Summit Band Boosters, Inc. Summit H.S. seniors graduating in June 2008, currently participating in any school band or color guard, are eligible to submit an application. These scholarships are not based on financial need, but rather the desire to perform and create music.

Auditions for these scholarships are not necessary. Applicants must complete an essay, as described on the enclosed application. The Scholarship Committee will judge essay entries based on content, thought process, originality and creativity. Scholarships will be awarded with consideration given to the essay, reference, academics and musical experiences. A total of $5,000 in scholarships will be awarded at the Band Banquet in May. Students are not required to major/minor in music in order to qualify for the scholarship.

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 15, 2008.

Documents Required and Application Procedures

Submit a complete application form, along with ALL of the supporting documents listed below:

One written reference (non-family, non-band director)
Copy of last report card
Essay – typed, double spaced/no more than 250 words.

It is imperative that the student I.D. number is on each page of the application and essay. The completed application form and supporting documents must be submitted in a sealed envelope (provided with this packet) addressed to: The Summit Band Boosters Scholarship 2008, Attn: Committee Chair and placed in the Summit Band Booster box in the band hall by 1:00 PM on April 15, 2008.
